Humor Me ; )

Ok, I wanted to post my Meemaw's obituary so humor me and don't feel like you have to read it, lol. For some reason we didn't have the laminated book marker's made for hers and when I got my copy of the paper to do my own...well it was twice as long as the usual one! I just thought it was sweet to see mention made to some of the same memories I have and that they listed EVERYONE, even little Wyatt.

Mildred Wallace

Mrs. Mildred Wallace was born April 29, 1917, and departed this life Aug. 30, 2009. She was a member of Colbert Heights Baptist Church and lived almost her entire life in Tuscumbia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Conrad and Emma Von Boeckman; her husband, Charles L. Wallace; and sisters, Novella Patrick, Ruth Terrell, Martha Stokes, Thelma Roden and Kate Shackelford.

She is survived by sons, Charles Wallace (Dianne) and Donald Wallace (Maxine), both of Tuscumbia; daughters, Fay Evans, of Florence, and Gail Pilkerton (Albert Lee), McCalla, Ala.; grandchildren, Laura Tippett (Ronnie), Florence, Mike Wallace (Mary), Barberton, Ohio, Mark Wallace (Dana), Muscle Shoals, Bryan Wallace (Janie), Pratville, Ala., Brad Wallace (Adrienne), Chimney Rock, N.C., Cathy Aldrich (Charles), Helena, Ala., and Chris Pilkerton (Danie'l), Bessemer, Ala.; great-grandchildren, Audrey Watts (Reggie), Jasper, Ala., Jordan Tippett, Brookwood, Ala., Hannah, Joseph and Steven Wallace, Barberton, Ohio, John Mark, Nicholas and Sarah Wallace, Muscle Shoals, Jace and Sydney Aldrich, Helena, Ala., and Hannah and Jackson Pilkerton, Bessemer, Ala.; great-great-grandchild, Wyatt Watts, Jasper, Ala.; sisters, Doris Womack, Horn Lake, Miss., and Libby West, Millington, Tenn.; and brothers, Leo C. Von Boeckman (Polly), Huntsville, Robert A. Von Boeckman (Jean Marie), West Memphis, Ark., and Harold Von Boeckman (Jane), Walls, Miss.; several nieces and nephew and other relatives; and special friend, Bobby Jeffreys.

She had a heart of gold and a green thumb. She had the joy and security of knowing she was loved by her Heavenly Father and her earthly family. She shared her love and the fruits of her garden, along with Christmas candies, cakes, pies, cookies and homemade bread with family and friends. She was a wise and loving lady who imparted her love and wisdom to her children, their children and grandchildren, and the many fortunate people God brought into her life. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but they rejoice in having been able to share a part of her life.

Special thanks go to Dr. Syed, Dr. Raju, Dr. Meckes, Southern Care Hospice and third-floor nurses and staff at Helen Keller Hospital.

Funeral services will be at Colbert Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Seth Hood officiating. Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, with funeral services immediately following at 2 p.m., with burial at Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Mike Wallace, Mark Wallace, Bryan Wallace, Brad Wallace and Chris Pilkerton and grandsons-in-law, Ronnie Tippett and Charles Aldrich.
